The Museum of Farming Implements

History of agriculture finds itself at the heart of traditional festivities of Saint-Eloi and the Madeleine. It puts such a stamp on the habits and customs of the inhabitants of Châteaurenard that a man spent his life collecting these farming implements.

Nowadays, the collection of André Vachet is set at 31 A rue Jentelin, in the heart of the old centre. As in an ecomuseum, visitors are given clear and simple explanations about irrigation, which is at the root of the richness of the local soil.

This museum also evokes the evolution of the agriculture in the region. You will discover a wide collection of old restored tools which were used for the cereal and market farming and for wine-growing, some dating back to the 19th Century.

Made from iron and wood, these tools were the extension of men and women’s hands as they got the best out of the land.
